Élan Privacy Policy

Élan is operated by Avora labs LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. Élan ("Élan," "we," "us") helps you write replies for dating apps. This policy explains what we process, why, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be read, not to hide behind legalese.

The short version

• You choose a screenshot of a conversation. We send that one image to our service to generate suggestions, then it is gone. We do not store your screenshots, and we do not build a profile of you.

• Suggestions are generated with a third-party AI provider (Anthropic). Your screenshot is transmitted to that provider to produce the reply and is not used to train their models.

• We keep usage counts (how many suggestions were generated) to run the service and control costs, tagged with an anonymous device identifier Apple provides. These never include your messages or images.

• We use Meta's (Facebook's) SDK to measure whether our ads work. It tells Meta when the app is installed and opened, when a free trial starts, and when you subscribe. If you allow tracking when iOS asks, it also includes your device's advertising identifier. It never includes your screenshots, messages, or suggestions.

• Your subscription is handled by Apple. We never see your card details.

What we process

The screenshot you analyze. When you ask Élan for suggestions, the app sends the single screenshot you selected to our service, which passes it to our AI provider to read the conversation and generate replies. The image is processed in real time to produce that response and is not retained by us afterward.

In the app, you pick the screenshot yourself. In the Élan keyboard, iOS does not allow you to browse your library, so with your permission the keyboard reads the most recent screenshot in your photo library and uses that one; if photo access is off, it reads an image you have copied to the clipboard instead. Only that single image is sent. We never read, scan, or upload the rest of your library, and the keyboard does not log or transmit anything you type.

Refinements you type. If you add a note to steer a suggestion ("mention the dog," "make it shorter"), that text is sent with the request to generate the result. It is not stored after the response.

Usage data and a device identifier. To operate and budget the service, our servers log counts for each request: which AI model ran, the tone selected, and token counts used to compute cost. Each record is tagged with your device's vendor identifier, an anonymous value Apple generates for this app that contains no personal information and resets if you delete the app. We use it only to measure usage and detect abuse. These logs never contain your messages, your screenshots, your name, or your contact details.

Free trial. To give each device its free suggestions once, we use Apple's DeviceCheck service, which lets us store a single flag with Apple saying that this device has claimed its trial. Apple does not tell us who you are, and the flag contains nothing else.

Ad measurement (Meta). Élan includes Meta's SDK so we can tell which of our ads bring people to the app. It sends Meta these events: the app was installed, the app was opened, a free trial started, and a subscription or top-up was bought (with its price and currency). Each event comes with basic device information such as the device model, iOS version, and app version. If you allow tracking when iOS asks, the events also include your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), which Meta may link to other information it holds about you, for example if you use Facebook or Instagram. If you do not allow tracking, the advertising identifier is not shared. The SDK never receives your screenshots, your messages, your refinements, or the suggestions Élan writes. Subscription status. If you subscribe, Apple provides us a signed receipt for your purchase. When we verify subscriptions on our server, we store the subscription identifier Apple assigns (not your Apple ID or payment information) solely to enforce your plan's monthly usage allowance.

Feedback you send. If you use the in-app feedback form, we receive the message you write plus basic diagnostics you can see before sending (app version, iOS version, device model), so we can fix problems.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your data.

• We do not use your advertising identifier unless you allow tracking when iOS asks.

• We never send your screenshots, messages, or suggestions to Meta or any advertiser.

• We do not store your screenshots or the conversations in them.

• Our AI provider does not use your content to train its models.

Who we share data with

Élan shares data with two third parties:

• Anthropic, PBC, which operates the Claude API used to generate suggestions. Under Anthropic's Commercial Terms of Service, content submitted through the API is not used to train their models, is retained only briefly for operational and safety purposes, and is subject to Anthropic's own privacy commitments. We confirm that Anthropic provides the same or equal protection of your data as this policy commits to.

• Meta Platforms, Inc., which receives the ad-measurement events described above, and nothing else.

We share no data with any other third party, and we do not share data with data brokers.

Data retention

• Screenshots and refinement text: not retained after the response is generated.

• Anonymous usage counts: retained in aggregate to run and improve the service.

• Subscription identifier: retained while your subscription is active and as required for accounting.

• Ad-measurement events: held by Meta under Meta's data policy.

• Feedback: retained until the issue is resolved.

Your choices

Tracking. iOS asks before Élan can use your advertising identifier. You can change your answer anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you decline, Meta receives the events above without your advertising identifier, and Apple may send us anonymous, aggregated install counts (SKAdNetwork) that cannot identify you.

Photos / clipboard. You control whether Élan can read a screenshot; you can change this anytime in Settings → Élan.

Keyboard Full Access. The keyboard needs "Allow Full Access" to read the screenshot you copied and reach our service. You can turn it off anytime, which disables suggestions in the keyboard.

Subscription. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.

Access / deletion. Because we do not keep your content and do not maintain accounts, there is little personal data to request. To ask about the anonymous or subscription records associated with your device, contact us below. For data Meta holds, you can also use Meta's own tools described in its privacy policy.

Children

Élan is intended for adults using dating apps and is rated 18+. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly process data from anyone under 18.

Security

We use HTTPS for all traffic between the app and our service and apply access controls and rate limits on our servers. No method of transmission is perfectly secure, but we design to hold the minimum data necessary.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, noted in the app.
